Ishinomaki, Miyagi 26 September 2011 President Benigno S. Aquino III led the wreath-laying and offering of prayers at the Kadonowaki School in Ishinomaki when he inspected the site of many schoolchildren casualties during the devastating tsunami that hit the Miyagi Prefecture half a year ago. Joined by some members of the Cabinet and Ishinomaki Mayor Hiroshi Kameyama, the President inspected the extent of the damage brought by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami in the primary school located along the Kadonowaki coastal area. He told Mayor Kameyama that since the Philippines is also an archipelago, both countries could maybe cooperate and benefit on some sort of an alert or detection system for tsunamis. Quite a number of Filipinos from thousands of those who live in the area lost their properties and got displaced from the disaster. * * *
