Arrival and departure of the new 3-Phase MEMU which was bound for Chennai beach railway station from Tambaram railway station. Train details: Kanchipuram (CJ) - Chennai Beach (MSB) MEMU via Chengalpattu (CGL) (reversal) and Tambaram (TBM), Chennai Egmore (MS) காஞ்சிபுரம் - சென்னை கடலகறை மேமு வழி செங்கல்பட்டு, தாம்பரம், சென்னை எழும்பூர் Location: Tambaram railway station (TBM) தாம்பரம் ரயில் நிலையம் Details about the 3-Phase MEMU: Manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, the coaches are fabricated with stainless steel body and have a higher hauling capacity. The rake is highly advantageous for Railways as it propels with the three-phase AC propulsion system consisting of insulated-gate bipolar transistor and facilitates improved acceleration and braking. Ergonomically designed seats, with air bellows for secondary suspension for comfort riding, bio-toilets, CCTV surveillance system, LED lights, LED indication when a chain is pulled, and a GPS-based passenger information system are provided in all the coaches. The units have a facility to carry 2,402 passengers, including 614 seats. The energy-efficient electric traction propulsion system supported by regenerative braking can save up to 35% energy compared to conventional MEMUs. The electricity generated in this process would be fed into the grid. The energy-efficient units require less maintenance. A touch screen Driver Display Unit is provided to give information to support motorman in operating the rake while normal operation is also possible. Intercom and PA system are provided in the rake.
