Bellur is the birth place of legendary Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar. He was born on 14th of December 1918 in a remote village Bellur in Karnataka of India. He spent his early childhood in Bellur and then happened to move to Bangalore on his father's retirement who was a school teacher. He then moved to Mysore and then to Pune where he settled for the rest of his life. With his reverent practice and devotion to Yoga he attained greater heights in all aspects of life. Though he was in Pune, he never forgot his birth place Bellur. He always wanted to do something for his birth place. He established a trust in the name of his parents Bellur Krishnamachar Seshamma Smaraka Nidhi Trust to help the people of Bellur. This video "BKS Iyengar the Son of Bellur" is a depiction of his vision and his efforts to fulfill his vision on Bellur.
