His wife Padmavati, was an accomplished temple dancer. He was very much influenced by the culture and devotion of Vaishnava Brahmanas. His magnum opus "Gita Govinda' is one of the most popular compositions in Sanskrit language, describing the divine love of Radha and Krishna. Jayadev, in these octets describes the divine enjoyment of Radha and Krishna with delightful emotions so that will drive the ill effects of Kaliyuga (miseries) by understanding the considerate actions Krishna lavishes on Radha.
