Estimated vary between the 4th and 15th century CE; some parts of the text may be from the 750 to 1000 CE period. Padma Purana It derives its name from the lotus on which Lord Brahma is seated. Lord Indra recited this shloka when Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the churning of the ocean of milk.
