@Ancient Rocky Exoplanets: Kepler-444 Planetary System
Kepler-444 is an ancient planetary system located 119 light-years away in the constellation of Lyra. The planetary system was found to be 11.2 billion years old i.e almost 80% the age of the universe. In comparison, our solar system is estimated to be 4.6 billion years old. The host star Kepler-444A is a K-type main-sequence star having a surface temperature of 4,772 degrees celsius. Its mass and radius are 0.75 times that of the Sun. The system consists of 5 terrestrial planets smaller than earth and a pair of M-type stars named Kepler-444B and Kepler-444C. These twin red dwarf stars orbit at a distance of 36.7 AU and come as close as 5 AU to their parent star that is Kepler-444A. The pair of Red Dwarf Stars also orbit each other as close as 0.3 Astronomical Unit that is around 44,880,000 km.
