Prey is an American science fiction action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg. It is the fifth installment in the Predator franchise and a prequel to the first four films. The film stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope.Development on the film began during the production of The Predator in 2018, when producer John Davis was approached by Trachtenberg and a writer, with a concept that they had been conceptualising since 2016. The film's title was revealed to be the codename for the fifth installment in the franchise, serving as a origin story for the main villains and explaining how it came to the Earth for the first time. Filming was expected to occur in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2021.Prey is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios as a Hulu original film on August 5, 2022.
