I was planning on putting out a silent hill video tonight covering everything that we say in the massive silent hill transmission but the resident evil showcase just happened and it has hyped the hell out of me. Don't get me wrong i am looking forward to the all the new silent hill projects but I don't really have much of a personal connection with the Silent Hill series where as I am a mega resident evil fan and I cannot wait to talk about what we just saw so I am going to delay that vid to tomorrow so we can talk about all of the mind blowing things just revealed by capcom. The showcase opened with a short interview with the man himself, Shinji mikami. Mikami is the OG creator of resident evil but has been doing his own thing for years now over at tango gameworks. In fact the last resident evil he worked on was directing Resident Evil 4 back in 2005. Since then he has been working on titles like the Evil Within and Tokyo Ghostwire. Seeing him here for a talk about Resident Evil just blew me away because of how long it has been since he has been connected to the franchise. It's only fitting that he weighs in and gives his view since the RE4 remake is on its way. First thing we have game wise is a look at the Resident Evil Village Expansion. THird person mode looks amazing. It does not look like a simple add-on but rather a whole new experience, a whole new way to play the game and affect your immersion. I personally am not a fan of the first person view in 7 and and Village. I love both games but the third person view of Resident Evil 2 & 3 remake is what really butters my biscuit. Seeing Ethan and not just hearing him, seeing the trials he puts his body through to save Rose is gonna be wild. We will not be able to see ethans face which is insane but hey whatever. If you want to see how this changes the experience of Village without committing to purchasing the whole DLC a Demo has launched allowing players to enjoy the third person mode for a full 60 minutes. We got another look at the Rose DLC. We know it's going to jump into the future. We know Rose is going to be diving into the giant metaphor that is the realm of consciousness deus ex whatever that is her mold powers in order to find some way of freaking herself from them. The DLC is going all sorts of crazy because not only will Rose be traversing the castle setting from Village but the Director Kinoshita is using her powers as a means to introduce some weird shit ranging all the way from Giant clowns to corpses climbing out of walls. There is usually a scientific explanation for the goings ons in the Resident Evil titles but this looks like a deep dive into the occult side of things Resident Evil usually doesn't touch. As well there will be updates to Villages mercenaries mode. Tweaks to make the mode play better and new characters. I haven't played mercenaries so I can't comment too much on it. The DLC will drop eight days from now on october 28th Apparently Re:Verse is still a thing. The multiplayer vs mode which was supposed to launch a hella long time ago with Village a launch is finally coming. I remember watching folks stream the beta and by golly did it look terrible. The new footage honestly looks better but I'm not sure it's for me. Multiplayer just usually isn't my cuppa tea. It will be going into early access soon and be supported with new content via a battle pass. And finally we have it. After all of the anticipation we have finally got an in depth look at the Resident Evil 4 remake. I'm sure many thought that we would get just another teaser trailer but Capcom decided to surprise us and go balls to the wall batsahit crazy and show everything worth seeing. From the outset we can see how friggin gorgeous the game is and how much more mature Nick Apostolitas as Leon sounds. The very first enemy encountered in the trailer, an infected ganados villager, is way beyond anything the basic enemies were in the 2005 release. I mean this was the first enemy and we have a dude whose neck is snapped and has tentacles wriggling out of his face trying to rip Leon a new one. A fantastic looking leon is dodging villagers, shooting people in the friggin face and to many a people terror getting chased down by the most terrifying version of a chain saw wielding Dr. Salvador yet whose weird distended eyes make me want to scream. We got a good look at Ashley who now looks like she is actually6 capable of holding her own. Louis has gone full sleeze, the big cheese looks like he could squash us like a bug. Ada is hot, el gigante wants to kill us all and we need a bigger boat if we are gonna catch that fish. Salazar has gone from looking like a weird child in a Napoleon costume to the most disgusting looking tiny french man that Ineed to kill because he is just sooo freaky looking now.
