Here's the problem ... she clearly indicates that the death penalty affected her decision. The jury is NOT supposed to factor in the penalty when deciding the verdict. This was pointed out on CNN's AC360. Furthermore, the jury was questionable according to some observers: 1) None of them took many notes, which is unusual in such a complex case. 2) The decision came back surprisingly quickly for such a complex case. 3) There was no request to read back any testimony, which is again very unusual. As a six time juror on much less complex cases, I can tell you that all 3 facts are very surprising. Also, all legal analysts that I watched DURING the trial said that José Baez did a terrible job, the worst of which was that he opened with a shocking claim (that her father sexually abused her) and never followed through. On the other hand, the prosecution was praised for doing a good job, effectively negating most of the defense's claims -- and even the mother's claim of websurfing. In other words, any praise for Baez (mostly from his own team) is false. At best, the prosecution failed to prove its case. Baez had little to do with this. Even a 3rd year law student can win if the prosecution fails to prove a case. She and an alternate juror also said that they thought the father was hiding something. First off, the father was not on trial. Secondly, there were many things he could have been hiding -- including THE KNOWLEDGE OF CASEY's GUILT, or his alleged affair, or many other things that should not invoke "Reasonable Doubt." If you didn't trust the dad, then simply discard his testimony. His trustworthiness has little to do with her guilt. The worst crime is that there are already rumors that Anthony may get $750,000 for a bood deal. And you can bet that some amoral "reality" show will pay her for participating, probably on mindless MTV, VH1 or A&E (which featured Michelle Salahi, who illegally crashed a White House party). Seriously, just look at her party photos -- didn't they look like something from MTV?
