The principles behind good businesses are drawn from relationships that undergird the family. Families that grow with an eye toward the collection of God-given assets naturally develop the cultivation of their own resources for its continued success. The family is the first institution created by God. When we talk about family business, this is the first thing we need to realize. The family is very, very important. It’s the family that was tasked with taking dominion over all creation. At Creation, Adam was given a task, but he was incomplete. Therefore, he was given his wife, and together they were commissioned with executing the dominion task. In his book "Family Wealth: Keeping it in the Family, How Family Members and Their Advisers Preserve Human, Intellectual, and Financial Assets for Generations" James Hughes said, “Families attempting long term wealth preservation often don’t understand that they are businesses, and that the techniques of long term succession planning, practiced by all the other businesses, are available to them as well.” James Hughes puts the cart before the horse, while God arranged life the other way around.
