Rotary Club of Illinois Valley presented the Siskiyou Folk & Bluegrass Festival on June 24, 2023 at the Trout Pavilion by beautiful Lake Selmac in Selma, OR. The region’s finest Bluegrass, Folk & Americana talents included Songbird Trio, Sequoia, Jodie Jean Marston, Hot Copper Kettle, Dangerous Lee & The Rattlin’ Three, and The Sunny Sky Boys. Camping was available through Josephine County Parks (Lake Selmac Campground) or at Lake Selmac Resort. Rotary Club of the Illinois Valley uses the event as its major fundraising effort to cover costs of their many programs for youth and literacy. Members had been playing with each other in different bands & informal sessions for years. The joy, friendship, hours of practice & rehearsal, dedication to developing tunes with care all shine through the music. Founding members Ceridwyn (Keri) Ames on banjo & Heidi Martin on guitar weave uplifting harmonies. Both also write songs for the band. Walter Sydoriak on mandolin adds a third voice. Bob Rawlings both sings bass and plays bass. Dan Popelka on flatpicking guitar & vocal fills out the bluegrass sound.
