So this video is really cool, especially if you like clever inventions. I did not reinvent the wheel, and there are commercial products that work the same way, this is a DIY solution to a heavy trailer gate. The assist I built uses common Home Depot garage door springs to take all of the tail gate weight so you have to give minimal effort to lift a very heavy trailer gate at a very affordable price.
