We're using the voronoi fracture operator and physx binds to deform the bind between individual particles. Adding the typarticle Skin operator on top creates the illusion of metal being deformed. This simple technique can be used for a variety of visual effects, including bullet impact (Angelina in Wanted anyone?), metal beverage can crush and much more. This is a cool technique to utilize in your FX Technical director showreel, to enrich your destruction vfx shots or motion design animations.
