Reiji Minato's video: Top Gun 2-Er Check-6: Young Lions - Trailer 3 Justin Nozuka Ellen Page

@Top Gun 2-Er...Check-6: Young Lions - Trailer 3 (Justin Nozuka & Ellen Page)
Here is the 3rd trailer for my graphic novel [in the works...still] "Check-6: Young Lions." "Young Lions" is like a remake and extension of the movie "Top Gun" but retconned in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. And, yes, I am aware of a World War II novel with the same title by Mr. Irwin Shaw. I. Actor & Actress - Justin Nozuka = Lieutenant Junior Grade Kotaro "Pretty Boy" Tsurugi - Ellen Page ("Juno," "Whip It," "To Rome with Love," "Inception") = LTJG Katie "9-Lives" Wheeler II. Premise Kotaro and Katie have been best friends throughout their fledgling naval careers. Both are serving in the "Black Lions" of VF-213 (Navy Fighter Squadron 213) as Pilot and Navigator (Radar Intercept Officer/RIO), respectively. Their closeness will be tested as the Republican Continent of America (R.C.A.) is drawn towards the 2nd Babylonian War. Will love soar towards new heights, or will it be shot down and fall back to Earth? Only time will tell... III. Song - U2 - "Song for Someone" (from the band’s 2014 album “Songs of Innocence”) IV. Footnotes (In case some of you might misunderstand my intentions behind the video) 1. The character of Kotaro is an extension of myself and the adolescent strifes I went through (e.g. family member's death, toxic household, etc.) 2. I never fell in love with a female officer/pilot (due to fraternization policies, which must be adhered to no matter what, with the "Zero Tolerance" slogan and all). Rather, the character of Katie is an amalgamation of some lady friends I had in middle school, high school, enlisted service, and college (except for an "elder sister" of mine, which will only be referred to as J.P. There's a separate character for her, an NFO named Janice, who is an older, wiser mentor and sister figure to the main hero.) 3. I never served in VFA-213 "Black Lions." The squadron is stationed in NAS Oceana, Virginia. I've never been to Virginia during my 2007-2011 contract and am only fond of the squadron's insignia and colors (Blue, Gold, and Black). 4. This takes place in an alternate universe where: - Countries and cities are named differently - Baseball, Basketball, and Go-Karting are the quintessential sports recognized by all nations - The US Navy (renamed R.C.A. Navy) never retired the F-14 Tomcat jet fighter (until approximately 2015) - The MiG-21 "Fishbed" jets in the vid were flown by the Indian Air Force. Clips were taken from the 2004 IAF movie "Agnipankh: Wings of Fire." Here, it is implied that USN pilots went toe-to-toe with Iraqi AF pilots during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Though, in real life, air combat engagements between the two countries never happened - The Navy relaxed some of its policies (regarding stuff like relationships among officers, friendships between officers and enlisted personnel that don't necessarily cross the line/violate naval law, etc.) 5. "Minato-Niverse" Geographical Modifications - Virginia Beach = Virgin's Coast, Queensland, RCA - Oceana = Naval Air Base (NAB) Bayside, Queensland - Iraq = Socialist Kingdom of Babylon - Queensland = Virginia + Maryland 6. Movie References for Video - "Virginia Beach: Live the Life" (available on YouTube) - "NAS Oceana Flight Line Tour" (YouTube) - "To Rome with Love" (2012 romance/comedy/drama movie starring Ellen Page") - Justin Nozuka - "Sweet Lover" - Mahogany Session (YouTube) - "Whip It" (2009 Ellen Page movie) - "Speed and Angels" (2008 F-14 Tomcat pilot documentary) - "Agnipankh: Wings of Fire" (2004 Indian A.F. movie) - "Executive Decision"(1996) - "Top Gun" (of course) - "Stealth" (2005) - "Surface to Air" (1998 air action/family drama movie starring Chad McQueen, Melanie Shatner, and Michael Madsen) - "Into the Forest" (love scene 1) - "Talulah" (love scene 2) That's it. Please enjoy the video. P.S. I understand that this combined literary and pictorial piece might more than likely be considered risqué. Hence, by writing this story, I do not represent the Department of the Navy nor would I ever condone the actions carried out by the characters in said work. I represent myself and treat this work of fiction as some kind of personal "make-believe memoir" based on real-life experiences, which were especially incurred during my adolescent years and in service as an enlisted member of Naval Aviation.
