Reliance Foundation's video: Reliance Foundation: Kisan Sammelan to commemorate Shri Dhirubhai Ambani s birthday

Every year, Reliance Foundation (RF) commemorates Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s birthday in the form of a "Kisan Sammelan" (Farmers' Convention). This festival, organised in Kalamb Taluka of Maharashtra, was a congregation of over 30 villages, collectively displaying the impact of RF in the form of an exhibition. RF has been addressing the challenges of rural communities through its rural transformation programme. It is present in 157 villages and 89 Gram Panchayat till date, and has been impacting the lives of the weaker section of the community since its inception in 2010. From building rural institutions, creating awareness on farmers’ rights and informing them of the various Government schemes and subsidies, helping farmers carry out land development activities for increased farm productivity to promoting women empowerment and child development, RF has successfully worked towards creating self-reliance and unity among community members. Apart from this, adoption of Reliance Nutrition Gardens (RNGs) has made nutritious and fresh vegetables easily available to rural households, increasing nutrition levels in villages. Prabhakar Thakare of village Shivani BK, Yavatmal, Maharashtra, is thankful to RF for helping him progress and become a successful farmer. With RF’s help, he carried out well deepening, levelling, bunding, adopted sprinkler and drip irrigation, established mango and pomegranate orchards, and a vermicompost unit on his farm. He also sought RF’s help to learn marketing skills to sell his produce in the market. Today, he earns an annual income of nearly 5.5 lakhs and is also able to provide quality education to his children. Through such interventions, RF promotes self reliance and sustainable development within marginal communities to create holistic development and achieve inclusive growth in the country, while also contributing towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
