Religious Scholarship & Literacy's video: UULA Adult RE BS L 19: Exodus and the Question of Historicity

This month's Biblical Scholarship and Literacy class will be offered this coming Sunday, December 15th at 9:00am. Our subject will be the historicity of the Exodus Narrative. Now that we have covered the basics of the story of the Exodus, from slavery in Egypt to service to God at Mt. Sinai, we want to take a moment to evaluate the historicity of the events described. This is a difficult question, and a large amount of scholarly and apologetic effort has been spent debating the topic. And yet, there are many things we still don't know. In this lecture, we won't give conclusive answers to this important question, but we can give an outline of the various arguments and positions available. And there are a few things that I think we do know for sure, especially regarding the conquest and the size of the group described in the text. We will go over evidence from many sources including the text, archaeology, and even genetics! And some of the implications may be surprising!
