In northern Benin many Tambaran tribesmen worship the Fire God and prove their adeptness with impressive ceremonies, during which they "bathe" with flaming torches, wash their teeth and mouths with fiery cinders and roll themselves for long minutes in red-hot coals: hard to understand how they do it, since the heat is already unbearable 10 meters away. They are also very skillful equestrians, leading their horses from wild gallops to graceful steppings.
