I've had this knife for about 18 months. It has cut countless boules of Sourdough Bread and still has a good edge. Not quite as sharp as when brand new, but good enough to last a while longer before needing resharpening or replacing. Since the cost of the knife is so reasonable, it may just be easier to replace it. But not yet. The Mercer blade guard is simple and effective.
