This maintains a fair competition as both genders are better than one another at different activities. Disability also affects the bodies ability to perform at the top level which is why people with disabilities tend to compete against other people with disabilities of the same severity. Disabilities Certain sports become harder with certain disabilities. Football becomes much harder if not impossible for those without the ability to walk or for amputees as it is harder for them to develop the fine tuned skill-fitness levels in that area. Many other sports such as swimming are much more accessible for people of varying disabilities which is why many competitions will take this into account and set up a separate disability category in order to provide competition for all.
