Participation Levels in Sports - Get Unlimited Access to GCSE Tutor Videos & Online Revision Here for £19.99: http://www.revisionapp.co.uk/product/online-gcse-revision/ There are many different levels to participation in sport whether it is succeeding at the highest level and making a career of sports or pushing yourself through a tedious PE lesson at school. This section gives you a breakdown of how participation varies at these different levels. Sports Participation Pyramid There are four levels of participation within a sport and with each step up the pyramid the level of participation lowers: Stage 1: This is the foundation level of a sport where you won't understand the rules much and will have only basic skills. This is the level most people are at when they start school as most people are not yet decided which sports they enjoy Stage 2: The participation stage is where some people drop off from the foundation level and you acquire a level of competence at your chosen activity whether it be for social, health or just fun reasons. Stage 3: The performance level is where you start taking the sport seriously and are committed to improving your skill set for this activity. There will be much less people participating at this level than in stage 2. Stage 4: This final stage is known as the Elite stage and very few make it this far. This is reserved for the highly skilled athletes who have reached the top level of excellence in their chosen activity. At this level you compete both nationally and internationally and gain recognition for your achievements! GCSE Physical Education (PE) Revision: http://www.revisionapp.co.uk/gcse-physical-education/
