@How To Remove Swirls and Scratches From Your Motorcycle Paint at Home
Detailing your motorcycle or car is a very valuable skill if you like your expensive possessions looking great! Save some money and learn to do it yourself. With some simple polishes and a DA polisher, you can do it at home in very little time. In this video I show you how I polish swirl marks and scratches out of my paint, with great results! Directions! Wash your paint well before starting or the dirt on your bike can cause more scratches during the process. Step 1 - Attach a medium-heavy cutting pad to your DA polisher. Apply three decent sized dabs of Ultimate Compound (or compound of choice) to the pad. Rub these in to saturate the pad. Then apply three more smaller (pea sized) dabs to the pad. Step 2 - Press the pad onto the surface of the paint in the area you are going to compound. (To prevent the compound from drying, do smaller sections at a time) Step 3 - Touch the pad to the painted surface and turn the dial to speed 1 on your polisher. Turn the polisher on and spread the compound evenly over the surface to be worked on. Step 4 - Turn the polisher off, turn it up to a medium-high speed (3-4), contact the surface of the paint with the pad, and turn the polisher back on. Step 5 - Applying very little, but even, force, move the polisher in rows across the area with a 50% overlap of the previous track. Do around 3-5 passes. Switch directions (horizontal to vertical, or vertical to horizontal) and do 3-5 more passes. Step 6 - Stop polishing, remove the machine, and then wipe the compound off with a clean microfiber towel. Repeat steps 1-6 as needed. Step 7 - For a mirror finish shine, or for paint that only has light swirl marks in it, repeat steps 1-6 with the Ultimate Polish using a light polishing pad. Step 8 - To protect the paint from dirt, grime, and the sun... Apply, by hand or polisher with a finishing pad, the liquid wax using a foam applicator pad. Apply in sections, allow to dry until it is no longer wet looking. Lastly, buff off with a clean microfiber towel.
