Ringer Jake's video: Bell Ringing at Coryton Devon

@Bell Ringing at Coryton, Devon
Merry Christmas viewers! This is my 20th Christmas and has been one of the best I’ve had. I’m down in Devon at the moment, at my brother’s, so I wandered along to ring at Coryton in the Lyd Valley near Tavistock. Coryton is a tiny little hamlet of about five houses in the Devon countryside. The church is a medieval building with a few Victorian additions, like the purbeck stone chancel arch and the north aisle. The tower has a ring of five bells, tenor 5-3-8 in B. They were overhauled in 1908, with the 1,2 and tenor recast by Mears and Stainbank. The remaining two bells, 3 and 4, are old. The 3rd dates from 1499 and was cast by the Exeter Foundry and the 4th was cast by John II Pennington of Tavistock in 1709. They are rung from the ground floor. Unfortunately there is no band to ring them now so the best I could do as a visiting ringer was to chime them in rounds as best as possible! Enjoy!
