Rising Sun Productions's video: Scaretale

Please watch, like, and share...this video exposes human hypocrisy, greed, cruelty, and lust for entertainment in the perspective of Lolita, a captive killer whale held at the Miami Seaquarium. It is remarkably cruel to keep cetaceans, who possess a more larger and complex emotional system than our own, in captivity. *Warning - video contains several graphic images* More info and background on Lolita: 50 years ago, Tokitae leaped through the waves with her family, swimming an average of 75 miles a day. She caressed her mother's side and socialized with other orcas. Tokitae learned the ways of her kind and caught her own fish. But the joyous years of her youth did not last long. On Aug. 8, 1970, fog consumed the sunless sky as Tokitae and her pod were driven through Admirality Inlet towards Penn Cove, Whidbey Island. Bombs shattered their ears until they were sealed within the small cove. There, the adults were separated with nets from their young while the young were netted and hauled out onto flatbed trucks. They were driven away for transport to be dominated and trained to perform at theme parks. Representatives from aquariums across the world flocked to the scene, hoping to obtain a killer whale for display. On behalf of the Miami Seaquarium, veterinarian Dr. Jesse White flew to Washington to select a companion for Hugo, a three year old who was captured a year before and sold to the park. Dr. White described Tokitae as “so courageous and yet so gentle.” He selected her to become a show business personality in Miami, where then-owner Arthur Hertz gave her the stage name Lolita. Concrete walls trapped her inside an illegally sized tank in which Lolita, 21 ft long, is longer than it is deep. Theme park music blasted as she leaped in the sky only to be clutched by gravity, whose merciless hands threw her back into the tank. Water exploded into the air. People cheered, unaware of her brutal capture just days before. After 10 years had passed, her podmate and tankmate Hugo bashed his head against the side of the tank and bled to death of a brain aneurysm. Since Hugo's death, Lolita has survived in solitude for the past 34 years, performing the same show day in and day out. Her only companions are her trainers and Pacific White-Sided Dolphin cousins who she performs unnatural behaviors with. Despite the trauma from her capture, losing her podmate Hugo, and enduring solitude, boredom, and stress, Lolita has remained gentle and strong. The only education going on within the Miami Seaquarium is the horrible things Lolita has learned about mankind - that they are ignorant, greedy, selfish, and hypocritical. Throughout history, people have preached love yet killed each other and the world in the name of religion and greed. The Miami Seaquarium preaches awareness and respect towards the ocean, yet captured Lolita from her endangered family and now holds her in an illegally sized tank. However, more people are becoming aware of these vices in society and the entertainment industry and are starting to demand reform. The power for change lies within us. The climate is warming and species are dying. But it's still not too late to learn how to live in harmony with nature - for we are a part of it - and let go of our greedy, hypocritical ways. Lolita's plight has recently become internationally known, after the Miracle March for Lolita helped to give her protection under the Endangered Species Act (her family, the Southern Residents, is endangered due to the captures in the 70s and overfishing/pollution today). Over 1000 people attended the March, which took place just outside of the Miami Seaquarium on January 17th. There is a solid plan to rehabilitate and possibly release Tokitae back to her family: http://orcanetwork.org/Main/index.php?categories_file=Retirement For more info about Lolita and ways you can help, please visit http://www.orcanetwork.org/Main/index.php?categories_file=Lolita Produced by Rising Sun Productions 2015 Music: Epica - The Phantom Agony (Orchestral Version) Nightwish - Scaretale (Instrumental Version) Clips within the Miami Seaquarium (c) Zach Affolter 2015 All other footage is credited to their respected owners Fulll credits at the end of video
