Rob van Bavel's video: Flowersuite for Piano 2018

@Flowersuite for Piano (2018)
I wrote my little Flowersuite for Piano inspired by five flowers: Azalea (A major) is based on a technique that the amazing pianist Brad Mehldau used to play (2 voices in each hand) in a rhythmical and complementary way; for the solo section the ‘groove’ was inspired by the music of Chick Corea… Begonia (B minor) is a combination of a continuous melody divided over the 2 hands (inspired by ‘Solfeggio’ - C.P.E. Bach) and a swinging 12/8 groove Carnation (C major) is inspired by the unique voicing technique ‘Stacking Chords’ used by pianist Russell Ferrante (Yellow Jackets) and the beautiful voice-leading of Bill Evans Daffodils (D minor) is a workout for the left hand..both in the theme as well as in the solo section (‘walking bass’ in the style of Dave McKenna) Enchanter’s nightshade (E major) is a variation on the melody of Azalea, now the melody is played by the left hand (together with the bassline ) while the right hand provides the harmony. for more information: www.robvanbavel.com I hope you will enjoy playing my Flowersuite for Piano
