@Goodyear Cottage Art Show Reception, May 2014
'Two Artists -- Unique Light' 'An Exhibition of Original Art by Jennifer Broadus & Hank Wysocki On Jekyll Island -- May 1-30, 2014 Two artists producing works of art in entirely different mediums are exhibiting together at Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll Island for the entire month of May. Hank Wysocki is a stained glass artist living on Jekyll Island who produces shimmering 3-dimemesional works in glass ranging from colorful windows, lamps, and original bowls to light catcher mobiles. Jennifer Broadus from St. Simons Island is an oil painter known for her dramatic landscapes on canvases which capture the sweeping vistas and memorable landmarks of the Golden Isles. What these two artists have in common is their knowledge and understanding of how light plays on surfaces and textures to create drama, brilliance and luminosity. Presented by the Jekyll Island Art Association, "Two Artists -- Unique Light' is part of a continuing art exhibition series that appears monthly at Goodyear Cottage in the historic district of Jekyll Island. Each month, a selection of artists display their work to create an art show in a range of mediums. Goodyear Cottage is the former home of the renowned Goodyear Family who lived and played on Jekyll Island during the Gilded Age of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It has been home to the Jekyll Island Art Association since the mid 1970's. The Goodyear Cottage gallery is generously graced with windows creating a wonderfully bright venue to present the current exhibit by Hank Wysocki and Jennifer Broadus. Over 50 of Hank's colorful stained glass works are hung in the gallery windows and displayed on pedestals in the center of the exhibit hall, while over 40 of Ms. Broadus' paintings adorn the halls and mantle 1 of the stately halls. Jennifer's paintings range in size from miniature landscapes to commanding canvases up to 48" x 48" depicting the artist's new 'Shell Collection' series. Hank's eclectic stained glass work is rich in organic designs heavily influenced by nature. Both artists have been working to create this compelling exhibition for almost one year. A champagne Opening Reception of the 'Two Artists-Unique Light' exhibit takes place on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Goodyear Cottage from 1-3 pm. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited. The 'Two Artists -- Unique Light' exhibit is open daily throughout the month of May -- Monday -- Friday 12-4pm, and Saturday and Sunday - 10am-4pm.
