Robert Martens's video: 1965 - Autumn Frolic with the Martens Kids

Fall 1965: The Martens children frolic in the leaves - what fun! Grandpa Gus Martens filmed us on 8mm Kodachrome at the Clarkstown Reformed Church in West Nyack, NY, where Dad served as the minister. I don't think we would have put as much effort into raking the leaves if we weren't promised a jumping party afterwards. I'm the biggest kid featured in the movie, and brother Danny is the next oldest. Sister Margie is the lone girl, and baby brother Tommy wears the red jacket. We're all far too old now to indulge in such frivolity - or are we? The dachshund was our family dog Cindy. She was a good pet. Check out the period traffic - can you spot a flattop hauling a white Volkswagen, and a car decorated with wood laminate? West Nyackers, take note: See how few cars were on the street then?
