Cliff Swallows return to nest along the vertical cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Monterey Bay National Maine Sanctuary. These colonies of mud nest can number from the hundreds in to the thousands. Along the California Central Coast there's plenty of mud sources and food during the breeding season. In the winter months the Cliff Swallows forage in the outskirts of towns in South America.
