Historic Kelso is a fascinating place in the middle of the Mojave National Preserve. Once a booming WWII supply town during the 1940s, Kelso began to rapidly decline during the years following the war. Today its main claim to fame is the fabulous Kelso Clubouse & Restaurant building - the Spanish Mission Revival-style train depot that was designed and constructed in the 1920s - that was restored and is now operated as a visitor center by the National Park Service.
