Roelof Berkepeis's video: Chess Fuga

@Chess Fuga
The young chess prodigy FM Ilya Makoveev plays a blitz game against IM Joshua Daniel Ruiz Castillo. It's a French Defense. With move animation and music. Original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J0e4kPOHj0 - sorry for the poor video quality .. it seems this was recorded by capturing a television output : we see the Hertz flickering .. colors are also rather poor. Music: J.S. Bach, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor BWV 565, by Marie-Claire Alain, 1961 (minus 8 percent tempo change, without changing pitch) 2019@ArtFlow - all rights respected Ilya Makoveev started playing chess at the age of five. Since 2012 he has lived in Gelendzhik (Krasnodar Krai). In 2014, Ilya Makoveev won Russian Youth Chess Championship in the U08 age group, but in 2015, he repeated this success in the U11 age group. In 2016, Ilya Makoveev won the Russian Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in the U11 age group, but in 2017 he repeated this double victory in U13 age group. The French Defense is one of the most trusted openings in chess, popular at all levels from beginner to strong grandmasters. It has been used in the past by Mikhail Botvinnik, Viktor Korchnoi, Tigran Petrosian, Rafael Vaganian and Wolfgang Uhlmann, among others, but also by many leading grandmasters today. Wesley So, Ding Liren and Alexander Morozevich all regularly rely on the French Defense as one of their major opening weapons and thus make its high reliability evident. The French Opening is a semi-closed chess opening for Black which occurs after the moves 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 (see the position on the right). The opening got its name in 1834 in honor of several French players who used it in a correspondence match between the cities of London and Paris.
