Rokks the Doberman's video: This Makes Me Cry Stray Dogs of Bulgaria

When we got out of our cruise ship - in Vidin, Bulgaria, we were greeted by these sweet stray dogs. Street hearts of Bulgaria is an organization to help animals here. They collect the strays and spray and neuter and then tag the dogs to help control the situation. If the dogs are docile, they will try to rehome them, or they will release them back onto the streets. The dogs here in Viden are well fed, and the locals leave food out for them, but it's not like this everywhere in Bulgaria. Even though the dogs are fed, it is still such a sad situation. They followed us during our tour of the fortress and the city. They enjoyed the love and attention they received frim us, it was heartbreaking to leave them, STEET HEARTS OF BULGARIA "Seeing the life that the street dogs in Bulgaria have can be heartbreaking. Many street dogs come from being abandoned. There is a trend, many people move into the village for summer, grow their vegetables, etc, get a dog to guard their garden from birds, wildlife, or people. Then, once they have harvested, they move back to the towns, and the dogs are surplus to requirements and thrown out. There are also many people in Bulgaria who want dogs that bark. If they don’t bark enough, they are evicted. We train our dogs to not bark excessively at Street Hearts BG so you can imagine how difficult it is to re homing dogs here. We are working hard on this, but mainly, we only re home dogs to forward thinking, compassionate people. Dogs are family, not throw away accessories as they are often treated here. We do a lot of re-homing, but this is not our initial mission. Our aim was to catch, neuter, and release. It does not work in many villages,so people simply do not want the dogs there.
