Sunday school in 7Minutes A RESURRECTED SAVIOR SCRIPTURE: Mark 16; 1 Corinthians 15 ISSL for April 12, 2020 Methodist SSL April 19, 2020 About the year AD 50, towards the end of his second missionary journey, Paul founded the church in Corinth. So 1 corinthians is a letter from Paul to a church he founded.  In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul deals with the subject of death and the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead. In so doing, Paul gives one of the clearest, most concise definitions of the “gospel” found anywhere in the Bible. He shows how a denial of the resurrection of the dead is a denial of the gospel itself, and how believing in the gospel gives one hope for the next world as well as for the present. Paul message is timely today He explains that the heart of the gospel that he had taught them—the good news of Jesus for these christian in Corinth and MC is the resurrection. Through this gospel christian in Corinth and MC are saved, otherwise you have believed in vain. Remember this is the early day of christianity many christians were jewish followers. While those from the tradition of the Pharisees embraced the theoretical belief in resurrection  Jewish Sadducees did not embrace the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead. Paul is writing to clarify and solidify basic christian doctrine. Not claiming to be a historical witness to the crucifixion, Paul assert I preached to you just what I was given. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,  He was buried, He arose again the third day according to the Scriptures,  He was seen by Cephas ( Peter) then by the twelve,  He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, most alive some dead.  He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.  last of all He was seen by me Paul as by one born out of due time.  Paul is now personalizing his writing. Saying I experience an actual after crucifixion meeting with Christ the is not just hearsay. Verse 12 discloses the problem which prompts Paul to write this chapter: some of the Corinthian saints are saying there is no “resurrection of the dead. So Paul writes you became believers because you trusted the proclamation that Christ is alive, risen from the dead, how can you let people say that there is no such thing as a resurrection? If there’s no resurrection, there’s no living Christ. if there’s no resurrection for Christ, there is no Christian faith  If there’s no resurrection, our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain If there is no resurrection I, Paul would be guilty of telling a string of bold lies about God, If there is no resurrection all these affidavits verifying that God raised up Christ—sheer fabrications. Paul used logic and factual evidence to challenge those that would derail the faith of the Corinthian believers. As MC we are challenged why would God let these things happen. And we are challenged to use our faith and facts to explore and explain a world. But we know that God is a God of Love And evening loving parents must allow children to learn tough lessons. Here Paul clearly tells why our faith deferred from all others. Why today, Resurrection Sunday set christians apart. Because we serve a risen savior Who loved so much so pure That he gave his life that we may be saved from our own sinful circumstances Happy resurrection Sunday That’s the lesson -and Please hit the
