RoxiBee's video: Electric Feel

Made this so I could update you all on our progress so don't mind the crap video. For the past couple of weeks I have been doing no stirrup work, originally I had set a goal to drop them for two weeks, it is now going on week three. Turns out that Diva is more sensitive than I had thought. Therefore I need to change my riding, my legs were too stiff, my heels were always too far down which gave me locked ankles and having no elasticity in my legs resulting in an overly solid leg that was more desensitized to pressure then my horse. So! Dropped the stirrups to lengthen my legs and have been focusing on keeping her relaxed while working as she had started getting too forward (no thanks to my rock legs) The improvement is incredible, i've never ridden something so relaxed.. and of course i've also improved myself, some. Up until now it has always been about teaching the horse, I never really was able to focus on me and now i'm focusing on my riding almost more than i'm focusing on my horse because she relaxes only when my body is relaxed. Anyways, all good things! We haven't jumped in a while as i've been focusing on getting her relaxation on the flat before putting a fence in front of her. But i'm not complaining, i was never too thrilled about flat work- up until now. I love flat work!
