This is possibly a good example of why 16 2/3 rpm recordings were not successful. It appears that the maximum recording time of 31 minutes was achieved for both sides of the 7 inch single, however the recording volume was low and the surface noise is very noticeable. The actual subject matter of the recording being a oral explanation of certain Shakespeare scenes is somewhat painful to listen to due to the unusual recording technique. The narration sounds similar to old BBC Radio radio broadcasts, no sound effects - just a heavily accented British aristocratic monologue.
