I spent the next couple years playing the four songs on their MySpace page to death. When the band broke up, I saw that Aaron Mader from the band was doing stuff under the name Lazerbeak and I loosely followed his exploits with Doomtree in the years to follow. That lead me down all sorts of other rabbit-holes of collabs and projects in the Minneapolis hip hop community. Most recently Lazerbeak has been releasing insane bangers with Shredders and has a new solo album out this year too. He also did some production work on one of my favourite records of 2017 - P.O.S’ Chill, Dummy. Lazerbeak’s RAYZ remix is a fresh high-energy take on the song. With a great re-contextualization of the chord structure and a classic big-ass beat, it’s some major life-affirming feel-good summer vibes. So happy to finally work on something with Lazerbeak, someone whose music I’ve admired for almost 15 years and whose aesthetic and approach seems to have evolved in a similar fashion to my own. - Bucky, Royal Canoe
