@LOS SECRETOS: "LA CALLE DEL OLVIDO" (ACÚSTICO) -Torrelavega (Cantabria, SPAIN) -Friday,14August 2020
MUSIC ROYALTY tonight in Torrelavega. With capital letters. ÁLVARO URQUIJO (lead vocals and guitar), RAMÓN ARROYO (guitar) and JESÚS REDONDO (keyboards and backing vocals), of the iconic Spanish pop-rock/new wave band "LOS SECRETOS" perform their hit "LA CALLE DEL OLVIDO" (1989, title song from their 6th studio album) in their acoustic concert this year during the “VIVA LA VIDA 2020” Summer Music Festival in Torrelavega (Cantabria, SPAIN). "LOS SECRETOS" did not bring their whole present band, but just their 3 oldest members -- their basic lineup since 1989 with the late ENRIQUE URQUIJO -- played this very special and fairly intimate unplugged concert, following all security measures, distances, seated audience wearing face masks, and reduced capacity, due to the global Covid19 pandemic. As it is well-known, the former lead voice and adored founding member of the band, ENRIQUE URQUIJO, tragically passed away in 1999 of a heroin overdose. His brother ÁLVARO, also a dear founding member, took the lead later on. The very beginning of the band had also been touched by 2 other tragedies, when the 1st two drummers (also gifted singers and composers - JOSÉ ENRIQUE "CANITO" CANO, and PEDRO ANTONIO DÍAZ) were killed in two different traffic accidents. It was actually the tribute concert to Canito, the event that started the huge musical and countercultural movement of the "Movida madrileña". Fortunately for all of us, the greatness and authenticity of "LOS SECRETOS" found a way to keep shining and overcome these extreme pain and difficuties. Music truly thanks them. I was feeling immense enthusiasm and eagerness today to finally be able to see one of "the best of the best" Spanish music bands, born at the very beginning of the golden era of rock and pop music in Spain in the 80s, known as the "Movida madrileña" (it could be translated as something like "Madrid's New Wave musical scene"). I was feeling so excited as a little girl, because I grew up with their music as a kid, but I never had the chance to see them live until now. I was not disappointed. I am officially in love with them (as I was as a kid ;) ). "LOS SECRETOS" are magic, they are true poets, EACH of their songs is pure ART. It is difficult to find a band without a bad song. Well, THIS is it: "LOS SECRETOS". These recordings are not perfect, but they are just for my memories. I wish I could have filmed ALL the songs, but ahhh, always those batteries, I always need to chose even if I don't want to... Great organization, and it was very nice to see that in general all the attendees were rather responsible. It meant a ray of hope that live music can still go on lighting us up in the middle of this darkness, and can help us keep a minimum of normalcy, to keep us alive too. Let’s hope "LOS SECRETOS" come back here with their whole band once our world comes back to normal again, hopefully next year! - Friday, 14 August 2020. 10:17 pm. “VIVA LA VIDA 2020” Music Festival. Torrelavega, Cantabria (SPAIN). 10 pm. - :30 pm.
