On the hills of Manchuria is a Russian waltz composed in 1906 by Ilya Alekseevich Shatrov. The original title of the waltz was "The Mokshansky regiment on the hills of Manchuria". Dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the 214th reserve Mokshansky infantry regiment who fought in the Russo-Japanese War. Ilya Shatrov himself was a servicemen of this regiment. During World War II, this waltz was often performed on the radio and at concerts in connection with the solemn moments marking the victories of the Red Army over the Japanese in Manchuria.
