Sikkim in March was lovely, to say the least. We played with the snow at Yumthang Valley, shopped from the colourful shops at MG Marg and Lal Bazaar, and went on a spiritual journey to the South. We laughed, cried, played, and partied! To reach Sikkim, we took a flight to Bagdogra and from there, took a taxi to Siliguri. The buses were booked till 3:00pm so we took a taxi to Gangtok for Rs 4000. On the second day in Sikkim, we sorted our transport and the North Sikkim Permit (Contact Snoopy travels, 8001773082). Please prebook your taxi and take the permit a day in advance). The remaining day we shopped at MG Marg and Lal Bazaar market, had Tibetan food at The Taste of Tibet, tasted delicious brownies and cheesecake at The Local Cafe, treated ourselves to momos at Roll House, and finally, devoured a flavourful Nepali thali at Nimtho. On the third day, we left for Lachung (North Sikkim) and on the way, covered a few spots. Total we paid Rs 14,000 for Vajra to Lachung and back, and Yumthang Valley. (You can even visit Zero Point by paying Rs 2,500 extra.) On the fourth day, we started for Yumthang and returned to Gangtok. On the fifth day, we went to the South by covering Temi Tea Garden, Samdruptse Monastery, and Char Dham in Namchi. On the sixth day, we flew back to Mumbai from Bagdogra.
