RuzerPictures's video: The Squatter - NEW Movie TRAILER

@'The Squatter - NEW Movie TRAILER
'The Squatter' is a new film COMING SOON from Ruzer Pictures. Summary: A wholesome family struggling to make ends meet has their world turned upside down after they rent a room to a deranged olympic hopeful who refuses to leave. Creative Notes: The Squatter' combines the reality MTV/Vh1 docuseries format, within a narrative film construct, creating a unique storytelling style. Shot on location in Long Island, NY, this version of 'The Squatter' gives you a glimpse into the in your face, no- holds- barred, modern day mocku-mentary storytelling style the film aims to achieve. Affecting hundreds of thousands of Americans yearly, the events in this film are an artistic re-imagining of the possible terror a tenant can bring to innocent people choosing to open up their home to a potential renter. The goal of this film is that through entertaining a wide audience with the absurdity and hilarity of 'The Squatter', it can also bring social and legal change regarding the rights of squatters, and give homeowners the upper hand when faced with an unruly tenant. Subject Matter: The subject of 'The Squatter' is loosely based on an account of a short-term tenant refusing to leave a family's home, staying well beyond his initial agreement - turning their lives, as well as the lives of their children, upside down. 'The Squatter' tells the story of a post Hurricane Sandy, Long Island family, 'The Bakers', who's basement flooded during the storm. The parents, Dave and Karen Baker, both unemployed after the flood, decide to take in a lodger to help recoup some of their home repair costs. They find an endearing young man named Vinnie to live in the garage for a two month period through a Craigslist ad they post online. After the two month period is up, Vinnie claims that he never agreed to the two month term, and refuses to leave. The Bakers quickly realize that their tenant isn't the charming person they met during their craigslist interview, but a degenerate, serial squatter, under the grand delusion of training for the olympics as a cyclist, while beckoning prostitutes and drug dealers to the garage on a bi-weekly basis where he resides on a dingy cot. Dave and Karen are helpless and want to do everything by the book, but make another huge mistake that slows down the eviction process, when they hire an attorney from Craigslist that never passed the Bar. Drew Baker, the son of Dave and Karen, is fed up with the living nightmare his parents have allowed to take over their home, and decides to take matters into his own hands. Drew enlists the help of an old high school gang member buddy 'Big Ron', who offers to 'whack' Vinnie for the economic, 'homie discount' rate of $200. Meanwhile, things take a turn for the worse inside the Baker residence. Vinnie finds some incriminating documents in the garage from Dave and Karen's past involving credit fraud, and threatens to expose their dirty little secret for all the neighbors to hear. The film reaches a boiling point as the different story lines collide. Dave and Karen face foreclosure due to months of unpaid rent, with the possibility of being forced out of their home before Vinnie gets evicted. Drew has to make the ultimate decision- let the wave of horror inflicted upon his family by this madman ride out, or commission the hit on Vinnie and face the ultimate sacrifice of spending the rest of his life behind bars.
