What happens when police come to my house with a search warrant? If police have a search warrant, they may knock at the door or sometimes they break it down. They will look everywhere in the house for what the search warrant says they can look for, usually controlled substances and drugs like methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, paraphernalia, currency, firearms, etc. When they are done they will leave an "inventory sheet" where they write down what they took out of your home, along with a copy of the search warrant. They will try to question people at the house, may arrest people they think are responsible for illegal conduct, and may try to question them again at the jail.
