Mixing up your own powdered laundry detergent is cheap and easy. The amount of detergent you can make with bulk ingredients is about 5x cheaper as commercial boxes. You can control exactly what goes in it. My favorite part, besides being inexpensive, is that I can avoid the heavy fragrance that comes with many store bought detergents.
