He is said to have chosen this place to build the very first house in Iceland, in the year 860 (holy smokes, Iceland is a young place!). He was also the first to circumnavigate Iceland and figure out that it was an island. Today, the inhabitants of Husavik fish (duh) and welcome tourists who seek natural beauty and glimpses of whales.
