Here at the foot of the baroque Plazzo Corsini (see the rooftop statues), Ryeberg looks west down the Arno to the five-arched Ponte alla Carraia (many times destroyed and rebuilt, the last time in 1948 after the retreating Germans blew it up). On the south side of the river, the dome of the seventeenth-century San Frediano in Cestello is silhouetted against the sky (its interior dome frescoed with a Glory of the Magdalen and Virtue by the artists, Antonio Domenico Gabbiani).
