There is a new wave of women who are smashing cricket’s so-called glass ceiling and are inspiring a new generation of game changers. SHANDRE FRITZ has broken new ground for women’s match officials when she started her first appointment as a Cricket South Africa (CSA) match referee for first-class matches during the Four-Day Domestic Series match between the Lions and the Dolphins at the iconic Imperial Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg recently. Her journey started when she was a player representing the Proteas in 85 white-ball international matches between 2003 and 2014. She made history when she became the first SA cricketer to score 100 runs in a T20 international back in 2010 when the Proteas women took on the Netherlands in the inaugural ICC Women's Cricket Challenge.
