Growing up in the dusty street of Daveyton, our game changer, TUMI SEKHUKHUNE refused to conform to societal norms and managed to beat the gender stereotypes. The 20-year old bowler needed no state of art facility to attain her goals. She refined her craft on a tennis court, the home of the sport that was her first love before cricket won her over. It was her boldness that opened doors for her back then and it’s the same spirit that’s pushing her to greater heights today. The fast medium-swing bowler joined the SA Cricket Academy in 2017 and has been a regular feature in the line-up. She made her One-Day International cricket (WODI) debut for South Africa against West Indies on 16 September 2018. Eight days later she made her Twenty20 International cricket debut for against West Indies. Tumi is currently one of the players in the Women's National Academy intake for 2019.
