I am answering viewer questions about computers. I am here to help. Whats better duel channel or single channel? is there a difference for gaming? You can have one stick of ram in your pc or two. Two is almost always better since this would mean you have 2 channels of ram operating in parallels. One stick of ram is usually slightly slower maybe 5-15% sometimes there is no noticeable difference or the difference is as low as 1%. The only time duel channel would be better is if you don't want to experience the potential bottlenecks that single channel ram presents. Say you are playing gta 5 with only 8gb of ram, you system would start to run a little bit slower and your game might stutter more because the channel in the ram is going as fast as possible trying to meet demands but isnt able to meet the programs/cpus demans quick enough this means that if you install another stick of ram you can alleviate the stutter issue if 16gb total running in duel channel is enough for the programs system requirements. Some games need you to have 16gb while others not so much. Its always better to have extra wiggle room when gaming or using demanding applications, get more ram so it can act as buffer when the time is right. The additional stick will provide relief and may even speed up some of the processes. Sometimes this is more noticeable then other times its primarily due to the desperate between the program demands and the system requirements. If the system doesn't have the right requirements for the programs needs then lag, or stutter may occur. If you experience this it may be time to see if RAM is the issue. Keep in mind sometimes lag or stutter may have nothing to do with the ram Whats the optimal laptop temperature? Your machine will know what the optimal temperature is, generally this is usually nothing that exceeds 100c. Some hardware is designed to run hotter but this isnt always the case because you most likely have a consumer grade laptop and not some special server. Some experts will say dont go over 75c others will point out that 85c is the optimal temperature really the best temp is as low as you can get it. In my home my laptop is 85c sometimes 95c even though these are normal operating temps they may not be the most optimal for the system because temps that high might cause stress to the components and metals inside as temps day in and day out get hot cold hot cold it starts to fracture the components and slowly destroy them. Some machines like macbooks run hot like hell but they last for 6-10 years this could be a decent range for those computers its not to say it doesnt venture out but this is the normal. Thermal throttling slows the CPU down to prevent the machine from reaching excessive temperatures, the machine monitors its own temperatures and when they reach a specific temp range which varies greatly they may dynamically reduce there own performance to reduce heat since work will be slowed down and ran slower on purpose.Thermal throttling will usually be enabled in computers newer then 2008+ and these machines tend to do a better job at cooling there computers. In the past in the early 2000s and earlier pc's would just get too hot and burn up sometimes even cause a fire, the life span on those computers was pretty short. I used to play gta 3 on a hp compaq laptop where the plastic melted because it got so hot. I can that computer so hard I played gta3 at 10fps for years and eventually the computer took a crap and stopped working. If I had not stressed it so hard by playing demanding games I could of preserved the life of the computer. If you strain your pc its life is reduced unless the thermal throttling is watching the machines temps and is calibrated properly. Older machines have poor calibration and low reliability. We are at point where machines may last us 10 years if we take care of them.
