SONS OF LIBERTY's video: Responsible mom gets trip to Trump inauguration with her son

FORT MYERS, FL - A Fort Myers mom who turned her son in for his crimes will soon be heading to President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony. LaKesha Robinson found her son, Chris Salters, with a cellphone that wasn't his. She called the owner and encouraged him to press charges. The story has been heard around the world. Robinson said she even received calls from media in Japan. "Mike Epps shared it, and he said kudos to us," said Robinson. Not all of the reactions were positive. "I fed into it a little bit. I went through and commented on a lot of people's stuff," said Robinson. "Then I was like, you know what, this battle ain't even mine." Robinson wanted her son to learn from his mistakes. "If I had the chance to do it again, I would do it again because this is my son," said Robinson. The message was heard by the Brunson Foundation, which provides academic scholarships to disadvantaged youth. "You have to let kids know when they've done something that they shouldn't have," said Chenetta Brunson, CEO and President of the Brunson Foundation Corporation. Now the Brunson Foundation is paying for Robinson and Salters and 83 other people to ride a bus to Washington D.C. for three days of site seeing; culminating in the inauguration ceremony. "This trip hopefully will be an inspiration to him [Salters] and will help him improve his behavior," said Brunson. Asked if the whole experience has changed him, Salters replied, "Yeah because I know now not to go do it now." Salters holds no hard feelings to his mom for turning him in. "I still love her, that's still my momma at the end of the day," said Salters. The group going on the trip is mostly students from Southwest Florida. The Brunson Foundation is still trying to raise another $5,000 so they can bring a few more students on the trip.
