SOUNZ Centre for NZ Music's video: JASMINE LOVELL SMITH: Home for the Winter

@JASMINE LOVELL SMITH: Home for the Winter
JASMINE LOVELL SMITH: Home for the Winter ‘Home for the Winter’ is Jasmine Lovell-Smith’s contribution to the flute and piano commissioning project of Hannah Darroch and Andrew Crooks, composed with funding from Creative New Zealand. Jasmine writes, “The title of the piece refers to the many kiwis that returned to New Zealand during the Covid-19 pandemic, including Hannah and Andrew, as well as my own experience of spending more time at home than usual during pandemic times. Musically the piece is based around intertwining melodies, and intuitively combines elements of jazz and modal harmony, conveying a sense of uncertainty and suspended animation.” Audio in this Resound film was engineered and produced by Graham Kennedy. Film funded by NZ On Air.
