SOUNZ Centre for NZ Music's video: ALEX TAYLOR and SIMON INGRAM: Assemblage

@ALEX TAYLOR and SIMON INGRAM: Assemblage
ALEX TAYLOR and SIMON INGRAM: Assemblage ‘Assemblage’ is a collaboration between composer Alex Taylor and artist Simon Ingram and was commissioned and premiered by Orchestra Wellington in 2019. The orchestra is joined by a ‘painting robot’, which realises a design over the course of the work, the sounds of its x and y axis mechanism amplified and mingled with the composer’s abstract and cool sonic material. We have a blog post about the work that provides fascinating insights into its creation: https://news.sounz.org.nz/alex-taylor-discusses-assemblage/. Orchestra Wellington is conducted by Marc Taddei, with painting robot operated by Simon Ingram. Audio recorded by RNZ Concert and additional film footage used in this Resound film supplied by Jeremy Brick. Film funded by NZ On Air.
