ROB THORNE: Tomokanga 'Tomokanga' was composed by Rob Thorne Toi Puoro, with creative input from the New Zealand String Quartet, specially for Te Ao Hou | This New World. Rob writes that the work is a, "portal into a new world that exists outside of time and physical space...a unified yet fluid world of ancient and modern combinations." The work is predicated on the transcendental nature of the held note, its embodiment of eternity bringing about a shift in perception as used in shamanic practice in many cultures.
