Lapis Lignum's video: How to dismantle leaf springs for knifemaking

@How to dismantle leaf springs for knifemaking
I picked up some leaf springs from someone who had upgraded and then sold the car, they are from a ~2000s Toyota Hilux. the three top leaves are 8mm (~5/16") thick and 60mm (2.3622") wide, longest leaves are about 1300mm/51" long (longer when straightened out) the lower load leaves are thicker. Steel is possibly 5160 according to internet wisdom. Leaf springs can often be had for free as they are bulky and not much use to most people, auto mechanics and offroad/4X4/four wheeler workshops will often happily give them away or trade for beer. This is a pretty basic job and by no means is this the best way to do it but it might save someone a few minutes of work, plus I needed an excuse to clean my workbench. Next step is to un-bend the leaves into straight stock and do some heat treatment studies to see if it is the good stuff or not.
